Our commitment

Aequa exists to make health data legible to the person it belongs to. That promise is empty if the product itself isn't usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. We design and build toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we treat accessibility issues as defects, not enhancement requests.

What we've built

Measures currently in place across the site and the member app:

  • Full keyboard operability: menus, dialogs, and panels can be opened, navigated, and dismissed without a pointer, with focus moved into each dialog and restored to its trigger on close.
  • Reduced-motion support: animations and chart transitions respect your system's “reduce motion” preference.
  • Touch targets sized for real hands on small screens, and layouts that reflow without horizontal scrolling on mobile devices.
  • Semantic structure — headings, landmarks, labels, and dialog roles — so screen readers can navigate by structure rather than by guesswork.
  • A color system designed on contrast-checked pairings, with meaning never carried by color alone: statuses are also written out in text.
  • Plain language throughout. Every figure shown in a chart is also stated in text, so trends and readings don't live only in a visual.

Where we're honest about gaps

We have not yet completed a formal third-party accessibility audit, so we describe this site as partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 AA: some content may not yet fully meet the standard. Known limitations we are actively working on: interactive trend charts currently offer limited screen-reader detail beyond the values stated in the surrounding text, and some third-party surfaces we embed (such as our payment provider's checkout) are governed by those providers' own accessibility practices.

Tell us what's in your way

If any part of Aequa is difficult or impossible for you to use, we want to know — that report goes to the two founders, not a queue. Email hello@aequahealth.dev with “Accessibility” in the subject line, and tell us the page and the assistive technology or settings you were using. We aim to respond within two business days, and to fix confirmed barriers with the same urgency as any other defect. If a barrier can't be fixed immediately, we'll work with you to get you the same information another way.
